黄渊青的作品是从书法的内在出发,与现当代艺术所相遇产生的反应。书写,是他作品的语言。接受不确定性,瞬间性,并与此对应中产生的结果。 黄渊青以融合中西的技艺展现抽象艺术。精研书法,黄渊青的作品以当代文人的姿态重新阐释了“书画同源”这个中国艺术理论中的传统概念。他的作品通常由线条引导,并辅以层次丰富的色彩从而产生不断叠加的肌理。 黄渊青将书写贯穿古典与当代,率性的绘画语言,灵动而准确,逐渐呈现在时间中潜行的知性韵律。与创作书法的规律相反,他作画时很少一气呵成,个别作品经历数月甚至数年才最终完成,但也正因如此,经过深思熟虑和时间的沉淀,黄渊青的作品也更为历久弥新。

我们中国人是内敛的,相比于直抒胸臆的发声表达,也许书写是更适合我们性格的方式,比如诗。从魏晋开始,书写汉字在前人的规范下经由个体的创造呈现出属于自己的美学。我们的诗人将字里行间的诗意与彼时的心境交融于书写的节奏与律动中,构建了字、心与书三者的平衡关系。点是开始,是确定,线是传承,是渴望,是无论如何要延绵下去的努力。而书法也成为了黄渊青抽象创作中重要的内在逻辑。让我们抛开画面的颜色,专注于由笔触线条所带来的绘画性,你很少能看到那贯穿整个画面的肆意挥洒,取而代之的是轻松简短的线条呈现出轻与重、缓与急、疏与密、停留与连接、扭转与延直的律动,如同呼吸。让我们再退后几步,端详他的画。 尽管你看不到重复与排列,仿佛他的线与颜色都是如此“随意”,但是你仍然可以感受到一丝和谐,那是经由书法的逻辑所带来的制衡关系。我不想把这种关系称之为秩序,因为在中国人的认识里,可能“规矩”一词更为契合黄渊青的语境。这“规矩”不是指艺术家固守于一个肉眼可见的、恒定的准则内,而是描述他的作品在看似“轻松”的外显背后其实隐含着非肆意的牵引和深入。这种特质在书法中被称作法度,所谓无法之法,是为至法,它告诉我们突破具象确定的法度才是真正理解它的过程。所以,黄渊青的抽象是将法度幻化为内心的认识,同时警惕经验,摆脱熟练,投入到对质朴和自由的追寻中。

Chinese are introverted, so handwriting expression such as writing poetry is way more suitable for our character than direct voice expressions. Since the Wei and JinDynasties, calligraphy has gradually presented its own aesthetic style through individual creation under the norms of predecessors. Our poets blend the poetry between the lines and the mood at that time into the rhythm of handwriting and engage a balanced relationship between the words, the heart, and the calligraphy. A point betokens the beginning and the determination, and the line represents the inheritance, the desire, and the effort to continue no matter what. Calligraphy has become an important inner logic in Huang Yuanqing's abstract creations. Let's put aside the color of the picture and focus on the painterlinessbrought about by his strokes and lines. You rarely see the wanton brushing that runs through the whole canvas. Instead, his lines show the rhythm of light and heavy, slow and urgent, sparse and dense, staying and connecting, twisting and straightening like our breathing. Let's take a few steps back and gaze at his paintings. Although you can't find the repetition or arrangement on the surface, and his lines and colors are so "random", you can still feel a touch of harmony, which embodies in a check and balance relationship brought about by the logic of calligraphy. It is inappropriate to call it "order", because, in Chinese people's understanding, the word "rules" may be more in line with Huang Yuanqing'scontext. The "rules" does not mean that the artist remains stubbornly to a visible and constant criterion, but describes that behind the seemingly "loose" appearance of his works, there is seriously the orient cultural clue and structural depth. This characteristic is called a measurement of rules in calligraphy. The so-called rule without explicit steps and clear formulas is the "supreme rule", which tells us that breaking through the concrete and definite rule is the process of truly understanding it. Therefore, Huang Yuanqing's abstraction is to present his inner knowledge of art and calligraphy, and he is alert to the experience, rid of the proficiency, and devotes himself to the pursuit of pristine and freedom.
