Q: 请问你会怎么形容Seletti的特质?
What would you consider the defining characteristics of Seletti's design?
A:Seletti是趣味思考和讽刺内涵的缩影。通过将艺术融合时尚,Seletti偏向于探索象征设计,也探索更多实验性的尝试。
Seletti is the epitome of fun and irony, with a high preference for figurative design and for experimenting thanks to its collaboration with art and fashion.
Q:你认为Seletti自身的独特和不羁是与生俱来的、而不是在持续发展中形成的吗?
Would you say that Seletti's unique and nonconforming identity was something it was born with or, rather, acquired over the years?
A:上世纪60年代,在Romano Seletti先生的开拓下,Seletti作为一个进口中国艺术和手工艺品的品牌诞生了。而当他的儿子Stefano Seletti先生接手并成为艺术总监后,更尝试在品牌本身所倡导的“买得起的作品”理念的基础上,加入前卫设计思维。因此Seletti的历史,本身也是一部进化史。
Seletti started in the late 60’s as an importer of arts and crafts from China, thanks to Mr. Romano Seletti. When his son Stefano took over and became the art director he tried to keep the idea of “affordability” mixing it with a more radical design thinking. The history of the brand is a history of evolution.
Q:Romano Seletti先生在上世纪70年代远渡中国,成为了家居用品进口的先行者。而如今品牌经历了成长、进化和扩张,我们还能在现在的产品中感受到当年那些东方情怀吗?
Romano Seletti traveled to China in the 1970s and became a pioneer in importing home products. Can the original eastern influence still be found in Seletti’s current catalogue, now that it has grown, evolved, and expanded significantly?
A:Seletti的产品产自全球各处,但许多还是来自中国(如瓷器产品)、东南亚(编织产品)和印度(金属产品),这也证明了品牌与亚洲有着深厚的连结,亚洲也是我们目前增长最快的市场之一。此外,也有不少产品的灵感来自东方文化,如由设计工作室CTRLZAK带来的Hybrid中西合璧系列,或是与意大利设计师Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba合作的Kintsugi金缮系列。自马可·波罗的时代以来,文化交流的历史就一直存在着。
Seletti produces all over the world, but many pieces are still produced in China (porcelain), South East Asia (the woven objects) and India (the metal work). This is to testify the great bond the brand has with Asia, which is also one of fast growing markets for the company. Plus there are a lot of products inspired by the rich Oriental culture, like the Hybrid collection by CTRLZAK or the Kintsugi collection by Marcantonio. There is a cultural history of exchange since the times of Marco Polo which still inspires us.

Q:Seletti常与有着丰富创造力和独创性的设计师合作。在选择合作对象的时候,你主要会有哪些考量呢?
Seletti works with a list of creative and groundbreaking designers. What are the things Seletti considers when looking for a designer or studio to collaborate with?
A:共鸣。Seletti所合作的设计师和创意人,是那些关注未知事物和讽刺意义的人们,他们能够与品牌、与创意过程中的各类参与者进行连结。Seletti通过产品讲述故事,因此当我们探索合作可能性的时候,也是一个探索故事的过程。
Connection. Seletti works with designers and creatives which can relate to the unexpected, to the irony and who can build a relation with the brand and with the pople involved in the creative process. Seletti’s aim is to tell stories, through products and we do look for stories when we look for collaborations.
Q:Seletti作为2022深圳市时尚家居设计周Design Compass设计坐标展亮相品牌之一,可否跟大家分享下感想?
Seletti was among the brands participating in Design Compass at 2022 Shenzhen Creative Week. Could you tell us a bit about it? What did you think of the project?
A:毫无疑问,深圳时尚家居设计周是当今中国最重要的设计与家居盛事之一,基于如此高度的专业性,我们很高兴能够参加这次展会。观众的反应让我们非常满意,也很开心我们的产品能够在这样独特的场景下展出。
这也是我们向中国观众展示Marcantonio合作作品“Peacock Lamp孔雀灯”的最佳方式了:没有任何场景,能够比这个如此梦境般的布景,更好地凸显出这个新产品。
The Shenzhen Creative Week is surely one of the most important events in China for design and decoration, so we were delighted to take part in it, knowing they high level of professional dedication. And we have been more than pleased with the public’s reception and the fact they were happy to see our products in a different context.
It was the perfect way to present to the Chinese public our “Peacock Lamp” by Marcantonio: the set up was a dreamlike garden and we felt there could have not been a better set up to enhance this new product.

Q:在这次的设计坐标上,观众们可以欣赏到Seletti不同经典产品,如动物灯具系列、Kintsuji金缮系列、Hybrid中西合璧系列、Love in Bloom心动花瓶系列、Studio Job都市花园桌椅系列等等。目前这些产品在中国是否有售?
We saw Seletti’s animal resin lamps, the Kintsuji, Hybrid, and Love in Bloom porcelain vases, the Industry Collection aluminum chair and table set, and the Kintsugi dining set, among others, at Design Compass. Are the featured products available for purchase here in China should visitors be interested?
A:当然。去年我们在上海开了首家旗舰店,在中国也有许多零售代理商。除此之外,通过天猫旗舰店、微信公众号以及微信小程序,都可以购买我们的产品或者找到授权门店。
其中,Hybrid中西合璧系列非常成功,Love in Bloom心动花瓶以及与Diesel合作的Cosmic Meteorite流星许愿杯也大受欢迎,还有TOILETPAPER的合作家具系列。拥有丰富的产品组合,对于触达我们的目标客群来说非常重要。
Absolutely. We opened last year our first flagship store in Shanghai and we have lots of retailers in China. Plus, we have a profile on TMAll Official, as welkl as WeChat official and WeChat miniapp where customers can buy and also find the list of our retailers.
The Hybrid collection is a great success, as well as the Love in Bloom vase and the Cosmic Meteorite Glasses in collaboration with Diesel. The TOILETPAPER HOME collection is going very well, too. All this shows that the wide spectrum of products is crucial to reach our target audience.

Q:对中国消费者来说,您希望当他们听到Seletti这个品牌,他们可以想到什么?
What would you like the Chinese audience to think of when they hear Seletti?
A:我们希望他们能够想到设计中有趣的那一面,同时也能感受到这是一个与中国有深厚连结的品牌。Seletti与中国同样,在过去的50年中经历了独特的发展历程,这让我们紧密相连。
We would like them to think about the fun side of the design, but also to think about a company which evolved a lot in relation to China. Seletti developed as much as China developed over the past 50 yeard and this is something which links us very deeply.
Q:未来是否有在中国的新计划或新产品可以与我们分享?
Any upcoming projects or new products in China that you'd like to share?
A:我们目前正推出与Smiley合作的Smiley笑脸系列,今年也标志着这个经典黄色笑脸形象的50周年。目前该系列产品仅在天猫旗舰店独家有售,一直持续至12月。
We are working on the launch of the Smiley collection, the iconic “emoji” which celebrates its 50th anniversary.Our products with them are on exclusive sale on TMall official until December.
