Meliá Chongqing Hotel and Resort was announced as the winner of the Silver Award in the Best Hotels category at the Golden Bund Awards last night. The ceremony took place in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, China.
Hassell Associate Frank Feng collected the awards certificate together with the client, Ms Jianhua Du, Deputy GM of MCC Real Estate (Chongqing).
“The design team’s dedication and commitment to design excellence is reflected in the outcome,” says Ms Du. “Since opening, the hotel occupancy rate has been higher than normal and our guests have loved the hotel experience.”
Our design for the five-star mountain resort in the heart of China’s scenic Tieshanping Eco Area reflects the Spanish hospitality group’s award-winning sustainability credentials — and the rich natural resources of the surrounding landscape.
Hidden within a verdant forest and accessed via a winding path through tall cedar woods, everything about our landscape architecture and interior design for this lakeside resort aims to emphasise a calming, seamless connection to nature.
