Unbuilt - The Future of Architecture
In the 1960s, architect Arata Isozaki proposed "The City in the Air",
and Archigram, Europe's most famous visionary group, proposed the "Instant City".
In the 1970s, the anti-architectural utopian kingdom of Superstudio was born.
There is also a group of architects called "paper architects", such as Zaha Hadid, Alexander Brodsky, Ilya Utkin ......
There are still many challenges to make the architects’ design works in the brain come true nowadays. Limited knowledge, construction skill and technology is of huge obstruction in the pave of architects’ ideal thought being achieved, though they are trying to show great understanding to architectures through the actural works. Those “unbuilt” works are full of inspiring and marvelous design ideas, which carries architects’ in-depth thinking on architecture, space and the future.
Ideal Architecture Festival（IAF）, an international competition，commits to realization and renewal of those "unbuilt" architectural design works. IAF calls for architects and designers around the world. It constructs a professional platform to provide an opportunity to the architectural “unbuit” works for accomplishment.

This competition is open for professionals and students groups.
Professional Group - practitioner or organizations from global design institutes, firms,studios etc.
Student Group - Full-time students from global university who major in architecture design, including junior college students, graduate students, master students, doctoral students.
(Remark: Submissions will be classified to right groups per the identity of the sign up designer-in-Chief indicated in the entry form, one piece of work is only available to one of groups, each participant could only submit no more than 3 entries.)

3. Special Awards
Annual Student Excellent Design Of Ideal Architecture Festival 2022
This honor will only be awarded to the excellent students at school of the year, and the percentage of winners is selected at a rate of no more than 20%.
Annual Emerging Architects Of Ideal Architecture Festival 2022
This honor will be granted to recognize those excellent young architects(under 40 yeas old) who made outstanding achievement in architecture field of the year, and the numbers of the award will be determined by the jury.
A number of authoritative experts, academic leaders and designers from global architecture and related fields are invited to consist of a jury committee, which is responsible for the selection of the works in the competition.

The property developers, design professional organizations, third-party platforms, universities and individuals related to architecture industry as well as investors, hotel/club/restaurant management companies, commercial building owner-management companies and so on are invited to consist of The Dream Building Committee.
The Dream Building Committee is divided into two categories, one is to discover and recommend outstanding architects/designers to participate in the competition, and the other is to provide the participating architects/designers with the opportunity to realize and rebirth their "unbuilt" design plans and matchmaking services.
The jury evaluates the entries based on：
1. The creativity and innovation of design thinking and models.
2. The feasibility of being constructed and came into service.
3. User-friendly, reliability and safety.
4. Applicability, economics and valued in market.

2. Requested materials: (Including but not limited)
Unbuilt Concept Works-Architectural Category
(1)Design Drawing
a. Design Description (Including problem-posing, creative planning, design thinking, scheme highlights etc)、regional plan、site plan、location analysis、overall plan、landscape and environment、joint design、expression chart and other graphics that could show the design.
b. Participants should adopt a flexible presentation method according to the content of their works, and submit two or more building facade renderings and two design drawings (the design drawing are directly used for the Ideal Architecture Festival 2022 thematic exhibition without secondary modifications), with the design plates in A1 size (841MMx594MM), and vertical layout composition. The finished image should be submitted in JPG format, with a precision of at least 300 dpi.
(2) Entrant basic info
a. Entrants(Individuals) are requested to provided: Personal profile, image photo, major work experience and social achievements/honorary status, scanned copies of personal qualifications or credentials, etc. (Notes: Students must provide scanned copies of their student ID cards to participate in the evaluation).
b. Entrants(Organizations) are requested to provided: Organization profile, social achievement / honor / status etc, business license etc.
(3) Optional materials
a. Video clips(2~4minutes) :
In order to present and interpret the design thinking well, a video clip is suggested to be submitted together. The team could be appeared in the video to explain the whole design concepts. The format shall be MPEG、MP4、AVI.
b. Works models:
In order to present the works well, participants can present their architectural models at the IAF thematic exhibition. The model size is suggested to be made as: 1.2M * 1.2M(L*W), the model scale could be 1/50-1/3000 per the works need. (Notes: The production and transportation fee of the model should be born by the entrant, and the mailing info will be advised in written notice by the committee).
Unbuilt Concept Works- Interior Category
(1) Design Drawing

a. Provide personal image, title, nationality and region, cell phone, email address, personal profile (including company, position, practical experience and honorary status) and other personal information.
b. Provide the understanding of "unbuilt" and the interpretation of "pioneer" design (submitted as a Word file).
c. Provide 2 sets of representative works of the pioneer (Unbuilt, under construction, and completed works are all allowed)
Text: submit a project brief in a Word file.
Pictures: including elevation, section, aerial view, various analysis drawings, etc. The number of pictures should be at least 10.
Entry deadline: September 20th , 2022
All entries need to be submitted to the Organizing Committee by this date, otherwise they will not be accepted.
The Winning Prize Selection: October 1st -10th , 2022
The jury members will select the outstanding entries in each category according to the ratio of no more than 20% total works from all entries.
The Winning Prize Announcement: October 21st -22nd , 2022
Both outstanding entries lists and works in each category will be announced on GZDW and IAF WeChat public platform. Outstanding awards will face to extensive queries and suggestions from the architectural industry.

Dream Presentation of Unbuilt Projects Declaration: October 25th -30th , 2022
Each winners are able to apply to present their work and interact with the guests at “Ideal Architecture Festival Dream Presentation of Unbuilt Projects 2022”.

Both Annual Young Architects Of Ideal Architecture Festival 2022 entry lists and works will be announced on GZDW and IAF WeChat public platform. The award winners will face to extensive queries and suggestions from the architectural industry.
Preparation for the Exhibition of the Winning Works: November 1st -30th , 2022
The winners will have an opportunity to present their work on “Ideal Architecture Festival 2022 Thematic Exhibition” during Guangzhou Design Week 2022. The size of the architectural model is 1.2m*1.2m, and the scale of the model is within the range of 1/50-1/3000. The organizer will display the winning works picture if the participants refuse to hand in a model work.

Selection of the Best Prize: December 9th, 2022
Jury Panel will make the final evaluation on“Ideal Architecture Festival 2022 Thematic Exhibition” to select the The Best Award in each category.
Annual Ceremony: December 9th-12th, 2022
The IAF Annual Festival will be held during Guangzhou Design Week and devided into 5 sections "Opening Ceremony and Award Presentation" "Dream Presentation of Unbuilt Projects" "Award Dinner", "Special Forum" and "Thematic Exhibition" , the whole winning representatives will be awarded at the annual ceremony.
