When President Sarkozy promised to transform the region of Paris towards a more social and more sustainable future, ten teams of architects were invited to envision future visions for Grand Paris as the metropolis of the future. In this research, as the only team, MVRDV densified instead of extended the city and came with many proposals to change the demographics and energy consumption between the City of Paris and its agglomeration.

Introducing social housing to the inner city and striving for a better mix of people in the outskirts, not exclusive but inclusive. Bringing together a polarized metropolis and thus creating chances for work and education for the poor. More public versus individual transport. The project seeks to mitigate future sprawl and radically transform Grand Paris into one of the densest, most compact and thus sustainable high-quality cities in the world: Paris Plus petit.
