2023年3月MVRDV 携「海平面上升应对手册」参加第九届深港城市/建筑双城双年展深圳前海分展

MVRDV 受邀参加“第九届深港城市\建筑双城双年展 (深圳)前海分展场”之「海缘城市」主题展，将在展览中呈现近期发布的《海平面上升应对手册》，探讨一系列与水共存、具有广泛适应性的建筑设计策略的可能性。

MVRDV will be represented at The 9th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture Qianhai Sub-Venue in Oceanoweldge City theme. MVRDV will present Sea Level Rise Catalogue, which explores the possibility of city intensifies instead of further urban sprawl.

海洋、城市和土地之间的相互作用是复杂而动态的，它们以各种方式相互影响。随着气候变化对海洋温度、海平面和天气模式的影响，包括中国“南方明珠”深圳在内的全球沿海城市都感受到了压力。随着越来越多的人涌向深圳及其前海合作区，城市系统和脆弱的海洋生态资源面临着持续的压力。为了应对这一挑战，深港城市\建筑双城双年展（深圳）前海分展场将提供一个探讨未来海洋与城市和谐发展的重要平台。如何在城市和海洋之间实现更加和谐的互动关系？

The interaction between the ocean, city, and land is complex and dynamic, and they affect each other in various ways. With climate change affecting ocean temperatures, sea levels, and weather patterns, coastal cities around the world, including Shenzhen, the "Southern Pearl" of China, are feeling the pressure. As more and more people flock to Shenzhen and its Qianhai district, there is a continued strain on the city system and its fragile marine ecological resources. To address this challenge, the Shenzhen-Hongkong Biennale -Qianhai will provide an important platform for exploring the harmonious development of the ocean and city in the future. How can we achieve more harmonious interaction between the city and the ocean?

与深圳相同，加拿大温哥华和世界上其他沿海城市正共同面临着海平面上升的问题，这是一个严峻的挑战。尽管通常采用设置更高的防洪屏障和堤坝的方式来抵御海平面上升，但这些策略往往会限制海岸吸收波浪能、风暴潮和径流的自然能力。MVRDV 作为 North Creek Collective 的团队成员，与 PWL Partnership 景观设计公司、荷兰三角洲研究所和文化顾问 Modern Formline Design一起响应了温哥华市发起的海岸城市设计规划挑战 (Sea2City Design Challenge)，并将其中的提案衍生成为一个与水共存、具有广泛适应性的建筑设计策略手册。

Like Shenzhen, Vancouver, Canada and other coastline cities around the world are facing clear and present challenges in their accommodation of rising sea levels. While the traditional response to rising sea levels has been to resist the water with higher flood barriers and dikes, these strategies tend to reduce the shoreline’s natural ability to absorb wave energy, storm surge, and run-off. In a series of proposals for the City of Vancouver as part of the Sea2City Design Challenge, MVRDV, alongside the larger team – the North Creek Collective, including PWL Partnership Landscape Architects, Deltares, Modern Formline Design – produced an extensive catalogue of options for adaptation that work with water.

The Sea Level Rise Catalogue provides illustrative and inspirational examples that demonstrate how to implement the principles for adapting various building typologies, both existing and new constructions, integrating them in a re-wilded waterfront landscape. This in turn fosters diverse and inclusive communities generating integral win-win solutions that also serve to answer the plethora of urban and societal challenges cities are facing. From incorporating renewable energy sources, to increasing housing provision, and from adding public spaces to improving biodiversity, each proposal offers something in addition to its relationship to the water that can help to ensure widespread support among various contributors.
