More about the exhibition
Meaningful, loved places have rich histories that enable people to form and share collective memories. The most treasured of them echo from the past and into the future, building on a narrative that interconnects generations and shapes the cultural identity of a city.
In this exhibition, Hassell explores how the built environment, semantics and storytelling are the key ingredients to preserving a cultural identity, building resilience and ultimately, place making. We look at the role that the urban fabric plays in the unique city culture in a city like Hong Kong, and in turn how this fabric nurtures the creation of shared, collective memories through three different lenses.
The BODW theme of Reflect • Refresh • Reset invites us to explore how we can create spaces that capture the purest and most authentic expressions of resilient city culture.
