VANKE 3D CITY
An ambitious proposal that heralds the next generation of skyscraper design, following the concept of the “three-dimensional city”. By opening the buildings, a series of giant collective halls are created with a view over the bay and to the world. HUANGGANG GRID

Huanggang Port used to be the main check point between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and will be a future innovation campus across two cities, offering a series of research, living and social facilities for researchers from both locations. MVRDV proposed a environmentally sensitive and sustainable plan to rehabilitate this riverfront landscape

Though MVRDV was founded as an architecture firm, our design approach has always had a fundamentally urbanist outlook. This can be seen in early projects, such as the Expo 2000 pavilion, which created a synthesis between building and landscape in order to showcase a country making the most out of limited space, just as it could be seen in early research projects such as MetaCity/DataTown and publications such as Farmax and KM3.
SEOUL TANCHEON WATERFRONT

In the masterplan competition for the next Tencent headquarters campus in Qianhai Bay, Shenzhen, MVRDV integreted offices, homes for Tencent employees, commercial units, publich amenities, schools and conferncen center into a smart city district shaped like a continuous undulating mountain range, to show that the smart city is also the green city

Early projects by the office, such as the headquarters for the Dutch Public Broadcaster VPRO and WoZoCo housing for the elderly in Amsterdam lead to international acclaim. 250 architects, designers and other staff develop projects in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative design process which involves rigorous technical and creative investigation. MVRDV works with BIM and has official in-house BREEAM and LEED assessors. Together with Delft University of Technology, MVRDV runs The Why Factory, an independent think tank and research institute providing an agenda for architecture and urbanism by envisioning the city of the future.
