The designer's intention was never to erase the memory the original home had, but to adjust it so that a new memory could be formed. This included upgrading it to meet today's living standards, including a framework conducive to the family's lifestyle, revising it to better suit their interests and daily practices. "The task was not only to update the existing house, but to turn it into a home that feels completely your own".

Upgrading a home to meet today's living standards involves reconfiguring the floor plan, opening up formerly small rooms, and transforming the kitchen into the main place of family life. While the spaces are now visually connected, natural light is also the driver that refreshes and opens up each area. Designers always try to use natural and traditional materials, keeping the history of the home alive, the key is to combine them timelessly and tastefully. Every textile has its own unique aesthetic. The kitchen becomes the material center of the home with a solid center island crafted from expressive marble and dark oak. Upon closer inspection, the bench resembles blocks stacked together, which Marie says represents the young family living together.
