The Range Rover was launched in 1970 by Land Rover, a British automobile manufacturer founded in 1948. The combination of tough functionality and a refined sense of luxury was remodeled into the 5th generation in 2022.

Four design factors of the Range Rover were extracted and reconstructed to form the shapes of two desktop accessories:a two-layer container with a lid ‘oju’, and a basket ‘kago’.

The container is comprised of the first three factors as follows: the horizontally overlapping, strata-like formation of the exterior and interior, as taken on the sides of the container; the replication of the roundness of the body and the corners with curves with a dignified sense of tension, as seen from the above; and the horizontal line and stretched slits, representative of the headlamps, also used for the detail of the side face. It is a ceramic case produced by craftsmen in Arita, Saga Prefecture.

The fourth factor, which is the continuous square mesh pattern used in the front grille, was adopted in the basket. It was made by a 3D printer using aluminum alloy as the material. The silhouette seen from above was also shaped by taking out a portion of the pattern. The basket is intended to hold car keys, and stationaries like pens can be supported at two points on each end.

Employing old and new technologies, both accessories were created from materials associated with Range Rover.
