I work intuitively in figuration, color abstraction and happenstance.

Starting with an iPad as my sketchbook, I create digital drawings. These become paper prints

I use as plans for paintings.

I drip, pour and brush fluid acrylic onto paper. When dry, I cut out the painted paper forms and collage them to canvas. This is the compositional stage.

Next, I paint a separate sheet of tulle fabric (netting) before sewing, pleating and loosely tacking over the canvas. The work is now a “Veiled Painting” with volume, texture and color, my atmosphere over a collaged landscape.

Janet Kusmierski

A native New Yorker, Janet currently lives and works in lower Manhattan. She is a painter, sculptor, digital artist, animator and illustrator.

她在帕森斯设计学院和新学院学习绘画和插画，1975年获得BFA，1978年获得亨特学院美术硕士学位。

She studied painting and illustration at Parsons School of Design and the New School, graduating with a BFA (1975) followed by an MA (1978) in Fine Art from Hunter College.

In 1975, she began her professional painting career, which she continues to this day with an emphasis on acrylic process painting. That said, she has pursued other mediums including digital drawing on iPad Pro, 3-D sculpture, digital animation and illustration.

Her work has been exhibited offline at The Elizabeth Foundation; Elizabeth Harris Gallery in Chelsea, NYC; Snug Harbor Cultural Center, NYC; The Drawing Center, NYC; The Everson Museum of Syracuse, Syracuse, NY and assorted universities and galleries across the country.
