Gustav Setz was born in Mannheim Nekalou, Germany on September 11, 1906. He is a sculptor, cartoonist and sculptor. He is the fourth child of plasterer John Setz and his wife Jacqueline. He graduated from primary school in 1912/21, and carried out more extensive research on architecture in 1922. He was educated in his father’s work and received practical training in the construction industry, such as plaster and plaster. This led to the first exposure to visual art through a visit to Mannheim Art Room. From 1922 to 1924, he worked as a stonemason and stone carver in the studio of Auguste Ducey, a sculptor in Ludwigshafen. He also studied painting and design at Mannheim Business School with painter and graphic artist W. Murano. From 1924 to 1925, he studied sculpture at the Karlsruhe National Academy of Arts. He lived in Hamburg from 1958 until his death on October 26, 1969.
